Before Tyson died, I smooshed my face into his and told him that I promise to find the monster that attacked him, and bring it to justice.
There have been a few days this week, where I didn’t think that I could fulfill that promise. In fact, this entire thing has given me migraines, insomnia, taken away my concentration and literally made me sick to my stomach for five days.
I am now ten minutes away from calling the SPCA when they open, and giving them the address of the St. Bernard that attacked my burgie on Monday. And I want to throw up.
Will they go and pick it up?
Will they quarantine it to see if it’s a danger or not, and then let it go if they don’t find anything?
Will the dog’s owners get a fine and a slap on the wrist?
Will I be responsible for having another dog put to sleep this week? I know I did the right thing with Tyson. I know this St. Bernard, having had the taste of this now, will probably do it again. But I can’t get passed this feeling of guilt. Unwarranted, undeserved guilt.
It’s 8:59am.

Sweetheart, do not feel guilty. I hope you made that call. The owners need to be held accountable for their dog’s actions, if not the dog. Although, you don’t know, it may not have been the first time that dogs attacked.
I’m thinking of you today, I hope all goes well and your sweet pup gets the justice he deserves.

I’m with Jen. You would be doing a service to the neighborhood. This dog owner needs to be held accountable. If they can not control their dog than they need to send the dog to someplace that will control it. Please don’t feel guilty. This is not about justice (okay maybe a little)as much public safety. What if it attacks a small child next?

Meat called the cops when my sister’s dog attacked Justin. If that dog gets one more call on him, they have to have him put down. Even though it was documented in our county. He was documented in their county for flipping out on the lady they had taking care of him one weekend. Kate and Kourtney felt so awful that weekend…and that was their dog and their nephew. If the moron that owns that dog has half a heart, he must feel awful too.
I sure hope you called.

i understand the guilt. but don’t let that stop you from calling. you might be saving someone else the pain of losing an animal or a frisky child from being attacked. ugh. i’m so sorry you have to deal with this.

As uncomfortable as it may be for you, you should make the call. The owner needs to be held accountable on some level. More importantly, it could happen again, only it could be a child involved.

totally take them down! there is no excuse for anyone letting their dog get to a point where it hurts another dog. What if it was “you!” or your kids? that were bit, I’m not saying that yoru dog was any less value then people but there is no excuse. What if this dog is “distemper” or something? it’s somethign that has to be fixed, before it happens again

I think making that call is the safest thing you could do for other dogs and the best think you could do for Tyson’s memory.

I hope you made that call. Just like everyone else said, what if it was a you, your children, or a small child? Who knows if this was that dogs first attack? He needs to be reported and I hope you did it. I’m sorry this has been causing you so much heartache. ((HUGS))

Oh honey. ((hug))
If the dog is a danger, it should be reported.
